Job Description

Description:

Atlanta Track Club is a nonprofit committed to creating an active and healthy Atlanta. Through running and walking, Atlanta Track Club motivates, inspires and engages the community to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. With 45,000 members, Atlanta Track Club is the second largest running organization in the United States. In addition to the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race – the largest 10K running event in the world, the Northside Hospital Polar Opposite Peachtree Road Race, the Atlanta Marathon, PNC Atlanta 10 Miler and Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, Atlanta Track Club directs more than 40 events per year. Through the support of its members and volunteers, Atlanta Track Club also maintains a number of community initiatives, including organizing and promoting the Kilometer Kids youth running program to metro Atlanta youth and honoring high school cross country and track and field athletes through Atlanta Track Club’s All-Metro Banquets.

Position Overview: Atlanta Track Club's Summer Intern Program partners with Atlanta Public Schools to give high school juniors and seniors real, hands-on exposure to how a nonprofit sports organization operates. Reporting to the HR Department for the duration of the program, with day-to-day direction from the manager of whichever department the intern is assigned to at a given time, the Summer Intern rotates across Atlanta Track Club's departments – including Events, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Foundation, Sponsorship, Performance Programming and Operations & Administration – gaining a broad, practical view of nonprofit operations, event production and community-based programming.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Rotate through assigned departments – which may include Events, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Foundation, Sponsorship, Performance Programming and Operations & Administration – for a defined period in each, gaining exposure to that department's day-to-day work.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks, including data entry, filing and organizing materials, as directed by each department's supervising manager.
  • Support event-day logistics under direct staff supervision, such as event load-in, load-out and on-site operations.
  • Assist with marketing and content-support tasks such as proofreading, drafting simple social media captions, or organizing digital photo and video files, under staff direction.
  • Shadow staff meetings and projects within each department to learn how decisions and plans come together.
  • Assist with basic donor, sponsor or vendor correspondence under direct staff supervision during Foundation and Sponsorship rotations.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when exposed to sensitive information, such as records or staff information, across all rotations.
Requirements:
  • Must be between 16 to 18 years old and a rising junior or senior currently enrolled at an Atlanta Public Schools high school at the time of application.
  • No prior work experience required; genuine interest in nonprofit work, sports, event production or community programming preferred.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the office and event sites.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn across multiple functional areas with rotating supervisors.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment with changing expectations and supervisors.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new tools as needed.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to follow direction from multiple supervisors across departments.
